Invensys Rail has been awarded a GBP28m contract by Network Rail for the Walsall and Cannock Lines Signalling Renewal project.

The scope of the project is to replace existing infrastructure and to phase out the Saltley Signal Box, transferring operational control to the new West Midlands Signalling Centre that Invensys Rail recently refitted.

This is a significant project, representing 260 Signalling Equivalent Units (SEUs) and will see the company install its latest signalling and control technology including WESTLOCK interlockings and the WESTCAD control and display system

Work begins immediately and is scheduled to be completed in August 2013.
